Pest Control and Exterminator Service in Wyndmoor, PA

Just over the city line from Chestnut Hill, Wyndmoor is a hillside of mid-century stone and brick homes under a heavy tree canopy. No Bugs Exterminator handles pest control in Wyndmoor, PA, in Springfield Township, Montgomery County, about 35 minutes (20 miles) from our Media base. What sets it apart is age and shade: Census (ACS) estimates give a 1951 median build year, and only about 14% of homes are rented, so most callers are owners of houses past seventy years old, with damp basements and big trees close to the roof.

Stone Foundations, Mature Oaks and Sloping Wyndmoor Lots

Mortar joints in older stone and block foundations open with time, and mice need only a gap about the size of a dime. Sloped lots send rainwater toward the house, keeping basement walls damp for termites and silverfish.

Large trees overhanging roofs drop limbs that soften fascia and trim, which is where carpenter ants nest. Each fall, stink bugs and lady beetles work into attics through old window frames and gable vents.

The 1951 median covers two eras. Near the Chestnut Hill line stand 1920s and 1930s stone colonials and Tudors with slate roofs, casement windows and deep cellars, while the streets farther out filled with postwar brick colonials and capes. The older houses have more cracks in their stonework and more forgotten openings, such as old coal doors and abandoned flues, but both types share the same shade and slope.

Steep lots are held up by dry-laid stone retaining walls and planted with ivy or pachysandra to stop erosion. Those walls and dense groundcovers shelter mice, chipmunks and ground-nesting yellow jackets right next to the foundation, and they hold the leaf litter where blacklegged ticks wait. Pennsylvania's Lyme disease counts are among the highest in the nation, so those shaded beds deserve attention.

Getting to Springfield Township from Media

We take the Blue Route north and Germantown Pike east toward Chestnut Hill. Thom and his team go through the basement, attic and roofline, note where trees touch the house, and leave you a written quote after the free inspection.

Mermaid Lane, Stenton Avenue and Nearby Neighborhoods

The USDA Eastern Regional Research Center is on Mermaid Lane in Wyndmoor. The neighborhood shares Springfield Township with Flourtown and Oreland, and Glenside is a short drive east. Stenton Avenue and the city line separate Wyndmoor from Chestnut Hill, so Germantown Avenue's shops and Chestnut Hill's two regional rail terminals are a few minutes away, and Willow Grove Avenue runs through the community toward Glenside. Cresheim Creek begins near here and flows through the wooded Cresheim Valley to the Wissahickon, keeping a green, wooded corridor along the community's southern edge. Students attend the Springfield Township School District, where public schools keep the integrated pest management plans Pennsylvania's Act 35 of 2002 requires. The usual Wyndmoor requests follow the trees and the stone: mice in older foundations, carpenter ants in roof trim, and ticks and yellow jackets on the wooded, terraced slopes behind the houses.

Questions from Wyndmoor homeowners

Why do mice keep getting into my older Wyndmoor stone house?

Usually through the foundation itself. In homes built around 1950, mortar between stones crumbles and pipes enter through gaps that were never sealed. Trapping alone won't hold if those openings stay. We find the entry points during a free inspection and quote sealing along with the trapping or baiting.

Are stink bugs in my attic a sign of a bigger problem?

Not structurally. Brown marmorated stink bugs, first found in the U.S. near Allentown, overwinter in attics and wall voids but don't damage wood. In Wyndmoor's older houses they enter through window frames and vents, so sealing those gaps before September matters more than spraying.
