Pest Control and Exterminator Service in Roslyn, PA

1957 is the median build year for homes in Roslyn, according to Census (ACS) estimates, and you can see it on almost every block: brick twins and modest singles set close together off Easton Road. No Bugs Exterminator serves Roslyn from our Media base, roughly 45 minutes (26 miles) north. Because so many houses share a wall or sit a driveway apart, a mouse or cockroach problem next door often becomes yours, which makes sealing and shared-wall treatment the core of our work here.

Shared Walls and Block Basements Off Easton Road

Roslyn's 1950s twins typically have block basements and a single party wall. Mice run along that wall and through gas and water line gaps, so treating one half of a twin rarely ends the problem.

With about 17% of homes rented, most residents plan to stay, which makes door sweeps, sealed utility gaps and porch-slab termite checks worth doing.

Houses built in the mid-1950s usually connected to the street sewer with clay or cast-iron laterals, and after nearly seventy years many of those pipes have cracked joints or root intrusion. Norway rats use broken laterals to reach basement floor drains, and drain flies breed in the film inside old traps. Original steel or wood basement windows, coal-era cellar openings and gaps where gas lines were later rerouted give mice their own way in at grade.

Roslyn's lots are small and its street trees are now big, so oak and maple limbs overhang roofs, porch roofs and the shared gutter line of many twins. Carpenter ants travel those limbs to softened porch and dormer framing, while leaf-clogged gutters keep fascia boards wet. Restaurants and shops along Easton Road add dumpster waste close to the residential blocks behind them, which keeps rodent pressure steady through winter.

Roslyn Station, Abington Township and the Easton Road Corridor

Roslyn is a community within Abington Township, so permits and code questions go through the township. SEPTA's Warminster Line stops at Roslyn station, and Easton Road links the neighborhood to Willow Grove to the north and Glenside to the south. Easton Road (Route 611) is the neighborhood's main street, and Susquehanna Road crosses it in the heart of Roslyn, with small businesses clustered near that intersection. Roslyn station on the Warminster Line puts many households a short walk from a train, and children here attend the Abington School District, which includes Roslyn Elementary. Penn State Abington and Abington Hospital are both a short drive away within the same township. Because the housing is mostly owner-occupied twins and capes from one building era, the calls we expect are rodents entering through party walls or sewer laterals, roaches moving between attached halves, carpenter ants in porch roofs and termite checks behind concrete stoops, all on lots where the neighbor's house is only a few feet away.

Questions from Roslyn homeowners

My neighbor in the other half of our Roslyn twin has mice. Will they come to my side?

Very likely, if they haven't already. Twins share a party wall, a foundation and often the space under the porch, so mice cross freely. We seal gaps along the party wall and utility lines on your side and trap where runs cross. When both owners treat at the same time, results last much longer.

Are termites common in 1950s Roslyn houses?

They are among the more frequent finds in houses this age. Termite pressure across southeastern Pennsylvania is moderate to heavy, and Roslyn's concrete front stoops often hide wood framing behind them. Swarms on warm spring days, often after rain, are the usual first sign. We check those spots for free before quoting.
