Pest Control and Exterminator Service in Ardmore, PA

Half of Ardmore's houses date to 1942 or earlier, according to Census (ACS) estimates, which makes it one of the oldest housing stocks on our Montgomery County list. No Bugs Exterminator provides pest control in Ardmore from Media, only about 20 minutes (10 miles) away. Pre-war twins, apartments over storefronts and the restaurants along Lancaster Avenue mean mice and roaches in winter, ants in spring and stinging insects in late summer. Thom and his team begin with a free inspection, whether the job is a twin, an apartment or a storefront.

Pre-War Twins, Shop-Top Apartments and Lancaster Avenue Kitchens

About 37 percent of Ardmore households rent. Shared party walls, slate roofs and old coal-chute openings give mice and roaches several routes between homes when the weather turns cold.

Restaurants and shops near Suburban Square and along Lancaster Avenue produce food waste that draws rats and flies, and apartments above them share the same plumbing.

Much of the housing is stone and brick from the early 1900s through the 1940s: twins with shared chimneys, Victorian singles with deep front porches, and small brick apartment buildings heated by old boilers. Pipe chases and radiator lines run between floors and between units, and German cockroaches follow that warmth from one kitchen to the next. Open porch framing and fieldstone basement walls give subterranean termites short, hidden routes to wood.

The blocks behind Lancaster Avenue are dense, with rear alleys, shared trash corrals and garages set close together. When one restaurant's dumpster pad goes unattended for a weekend, the rats and flies it feeds visit the yards on either side. The Main Line rail embankment that cuts through town gives rodents a long, undisturbed corridor between neighborhoods.

Mature street trees and narrow side yards keep many basements damp, which suits camel crickets, millipedes and silverfish, while freezing nights push mice through settled stone and gaps around old gas and water entries.

Route 320 and Lancaster Avenue from Media

We usually take Sproul Road (Route 320) north and Lancaster Avenue east. Thom and his team inspect the basement, kitchen and shared walls, then send a written quote.

One Ardmore, Two Townships

Ardmore straddles Lower Merion and Haverford Township, and borders Wynnewood and Narberth, where twins and older apartments share the same pests. Ardmore station serves both SEPTA's Paoli/Thorndale Line and Amtrak's Keystone trains, so many renters here commute and change apartments often, and bed bugs travel with furniture and luggage. Suburban Square, one of the country's early planned shopping centers, sits just north of the tracks, and Lancaster Avenue (US 30) carries the main run of storefront kitchens. Lower Merion High School is on Montgomery Avenue; under Pennsylvania's Act 35 of 2002, its pest work runs through a written IPM plan with notice to families. On a typical Ardmore day we'd expect to see a twin with mice on the shared wall, a shop-top unit with roaches coming up the plumbing, or a restaurant asking for a logged monthly visit. Because the community straddles two townships, we make no assumptions from the zip code and start with the building itself.

Questions from Ardmore homeowners

Does it matter whether my Ardmore home is in Lower Merion or Haverford Township?

Not for pest control. Housing on both sides of the line is similar, with pre-war twins, singles and small apartment buildings, and our visits work identically on either side. What matters more is the age and construction of your house, such as old coal chutes or shared party walls, which the free inspection covers.

Do you work with restaurants along Lancaster Avenue?

Yes. Storefront kitchens on the avenue are often joined at the party wall and basement, so a roach or mouse problem in one shop rarely stays there. We place monitors, close gaps around drains and pipes, and leave written service records for health inspections. Visits are timed before opening or after close.
