Pest Control and Exterminator Service in Ambler, PA

Ambler grew up as a factory town around the Keasbey & Mattison works, and its streets still hold the twins and modest homes built for that workforce. No Bugs Exterminator handles pest control in Ambler, PA, about 40 minutes (24 miles) from our Media base. Half the borough's homes are rented and the median house dates to 1954, by Census (ACS) count. Shared walls, older basements and frequent move-ins make bed bugs, mice and cockroaches our focus here, more than the yard pests of surrounding townships.

Factory-Era Twins, Downtown Apartments and the Wissahickon

Many Ambler houses share a party wall and an unfinished basement with a neighbor, so mice and German cockroaches travel along pipes from one side to the other. Bed bugs in an apartment above a storefront often reach the next unit.

Low ground near the Wissahickon Creek stays damp, which favors termites and centipedes. After heavy storms the creek rises fast, and the flooded ground pushes Norway rats and mice uphill toward basements along the borough's eastern blocks.

Keasbey & Mattison built rows and twins for its workers around the turn of the last century, and many of those houses still wear the cement shingle siding the company produced. Older siding of that type can contain asbestos, so when we seal mouse gaps we work around it with sealant, mesh and flashing rather than cutting or drilling into it. Behind the siding, original wood sills sit low on stone or brick foundations that have settled unevenly.

With half of the borough's homes rented and the 1954 median mixing prewar rows with postwar duplexes and small apartment buildings, one infested unit can feed a whole block. Kitchens behind the Butler Avenue storefronts, along with the rail line and creek edge, give rats food and cover close to where people live.

Ambler's Neighbors in Upper Dublin and Lower Gwynedd

The borough borders Upper Dublin Township, Lower Gwynedd and Whitpain, with Fort Washington just down Butler Pike. Its SEPTA station serves a downtown where the restored Ambler Theater draws evening crowds. The asbestos waste piles the factory left behind, once called Ambler's "white mountains," became the BoRit site that the U.S. EPA oversaw for cleanup, and the company's old boiler house has since been converted for new use. Ambler station sits on SEPTA's Lansdale/Doylestown Line a short walk from Butler Avenue, and Temple University's Ambler campus lies just outside the borough. Students attend the Wissahickon School District, which, like every public district in Pennsylvania, follows the integrated pest management rules of Act 35 of 2002. These anchors shape our calls: bed bugs and roaches in apartments and twins, rats along the creek and rail line, and logged service for the downtown restaurants.

Questions from Ambler homeowners

Can you treat one side of an Ambler twin without the other?

We can, but it often doesn't hold. Mice, roaches and bed bugs move through shared basements and wall voids, so we recommend at least inspecting the attached side. If your neighbor agrees, treating both halves at once works far better. Either way the inspection is free.

Do you work with Ambler landlords?

Yes. With about half of Ambler's homes rented, we can coordinate access and preparation with owners and tenants and explain what each should do before a bed bug or cockroach treatment. Leases often assign pest duties to one side; this is general information, not legal advice.
